Other Happenings

First, the following weekend after the baby shower I got to see most of my family AGAIN because little brother Cory was invited to be a guest organist on Temple Square! This is so amazing and not really surprising that he made it past the audition process. He really is amazing at the organ and it was great to be able to support him at his first recital.

The only picture we snapped was this sneaky one since photography during the performance isn't really allowed.

He's walking up to the organ if you squint and look closely!
It was fun to hear him play and to once again catch up with family. The next time I see any of them I will have a baby! This is getting more and more real.

Something else Paul and I have been up to-re-vamping our date nights. We kinda got out of the habit of planning our weekly date nights. We were busy with summer stuff, then I was sick during that first trimester stuff, and we just stopped doing them. We feebly tried to plan a few from pulling date ideas out of our jar, but both of us kind of lost interest in any of the ones we had come up with! It was turning into a chore to plan these dates and that is NOT the point. They are supposed to be something fun to look forward to, not dreaded and put on a to do list. So for now we are leaving the date jar alone and came up with some other ideas.

Since we both work full time and are pretty much homebodies, we decided that Friday nights will still be date nights, just a little different. One of us will take a turn coming up with something for dinner. We're going to rotate through three categories: Iron chef style (where we randomly draw out two ingredients from a bag and come up with a dish that way), International Style (where we pick a letter from a bag and find a culture that starts with that letter and make a dish from that culture), and Recipe book style (where we draw a name of one of the recipe books we have and make a new dish out of that). The other person is in charge of drawing a letter out of a bag and picking a movie that we own that starts with that letter.

We figured we should make good use of the movies we own and get around to watching them. So far it's really been great. These types of dates are just what we want. Laid back with a little bit of planning. They have been going great.

Other things going on: I'm going to start training the lady taking my place in a few weeks. After some debating I've decided to go part time my last month at work. Mainly because I realized Paul's health insurance benefits are better than mine. Also, my company will be going through the open enrollment process during the month of March and it was just confusing to me how my benefits would play out since I wasn't planning on staying past March. . it was just easier to quit being full time so that I could qualify to be on Paul's benefits. The deductible is a lot lower so that will be nice. And I'm actually really looking forward to having a few days off a week to finalize and get everything ready! As long as she doesn't come early. . .which I have a feeling she won't. Well, I also had a "feeling" that she was a boy, so I could be totally wrong. We'll see I guess!

Not much else is going on in our lives right now! I can't complain, we are really blessed. I'm trying to remember all that we have and do my best to give back. Heavenly Father blesses me beyond comprehension every day.
